DIY modern canvas art | One Room Challenge - Week 3

Posted by Līva Miķelsone on

One Room Challenge

Minimal art has always been my thing. I feel it makes the space look more creative and 'posh' than photography. In my opinion, mixed together with bohemian interior decors, minimal art sort of helps the interior rise to another level. This week of One Room Challenge I am finally making some DIY happen. Scroll down to see what I'm creating!

Modern minimal gallery wall in neutral colors

This gallery wall pictured above is one of the images that has sparked my creative inspiration. I love the color combination of black, white and neutrals as well as the minimal style and Scandinavian feel. Exactly what I am looking for.

Artwork of Ethan Cook, modern geometric art

Another major inspiration for this minimalistic artwork I'm creating is the art of Ethan Cook. The color blocking and geometric shapes is just the thing that would be in the perfect juxtaposition with the bohemian vibe of the room.

Scandi bohemian LA home, black and white living room interior with boho interior decor

This LA home designed by Amy Bartlam is the perfect combination of Scandinavian design paired with bohemian elements. Minimal, clean yet full of texture. My absolute favourite decorating style. This living room setting illustrates wonderfully the final vibe of the interior that I'm going for and I'm super excited that the day has finally come where I get to create my own abstract painting.

DIY textured geometric canvas painting

Here you can see a little sneak peek of the art piece. I am using acrylic paint as it dries quickly and all you need is a primed canvas. Make sure though to buy enough paint for your art piece, especially if you're doing large blocks of color - textured art requires quite a bit of it considering you aren't using water to dissolve the paint.

Modern minimal canvas painting DIY with black and white colors

As the artwork is still in progress and will need to be framed once it's finished, I will reveal more of it as the weeks go by. However I can reveal that the final look will be black and white modern geometric 2 piece, hanging above the master bed.
