Only few dare to wallpaper the whole apartment. And only some of those few have the courage [or should we say - the eye] to use the same wallpaper throughout the home. And Joe Human of Designs By Human definitely has the eye to make this happen, thus we insist you take a tour of this luxurious condo with possibly one of the best views of Manhattan and meet the designer himself!
The client came to Joe with their corner unit perched up on the cliff facing Manhattan with a vision to create something fun and memorable for their potential buyers. It was also important to the client that the potential buyers would also be able to draw inspiration from their living space, as the buyers in this area are usually purveyors of art.
The
perceived size of the living area of the condo was rather small, therefore one of the goals for Joe was to create a realistic layout on how the potential buyer would actually use the space. For this client Joe
had done a lot of work for already, and being really amazing and gracious clients, they allowed Joe to carry out his design vision for this project.
"My approach to design is often layered, I want people to interact with the space and keep finding interesting elements, this was done first by choosing an interesting but neutral wall covering to go through each space." - Joe Human
The wallpaper Joe chose for this specific project is our Paintbrush Maze Wallpaper© from the Modern Bohemian Collection. To achieve the neutral look while adding an additional layer to the space through the pattern of the wallpaper, Joe chose to customise the colors for this design to Mist & Off White. This particular color combination works really well on bolder wallpaper patterns and is a fantastic choice for spaces where you wish to truly keep the base neutral, but add some depth.
Being a model unit, Joe really focused on making this condo to stand out from the hundreds of models in other nearby buildings. Even though the view can easily sell this apartment by itself, the idea was to was to create something memorable for buyers and create Instagram selfie worthy moments throughout the apartment to allow the new owners to interact with the space.
As one of the beliefs of Designs By Human is that details matter, majority of the art was made by Designs By Human specifically for the space, and the other pieces were carefully curated for each room. Looking at this masterpiece we can agree that the goal is met and Joe has managed to create an exceptional yet cosy and harmonious space that can easily be lived in.
